Short Summary of the book:

This is a book best read after the first three in the series. It gives us an insight into what happened before the start of the first book and also contains extra scenes from the first 3 books from a different perspective. A definitely enjoyable book.

What I liked about the book:

The book is a page-turner, like the others in the series,full of suspense and twists and turns.

What I didn’t like about the book:

I really loved the book.

My favourite bits in the book:

Meeting some key characters we had not met yet.

My least favourite bits in the book:

I enjoyed the entire book.

Any further books in the series? Any more planned by this author?

This is the fourth book in the series I’ve read by this author and I would love to find out what happens next, just like I did after the first 3 books. What will happen with the families of Ada and Lee and of Shane and Philip.

What books could this be compared to and why?

This is a fantasy novel. It is a real page-turner and action-packed.

Cait is the creator and manager of Functionally Fictional. In 2019, she joined the indie staff of YA Books Central as a reviewer and then Indie Co-Manager in 2020. From 2017 to 2020, she held multiple positions within Coffee House Writers, including C.O.O., Editor, Advertising Supervisor, and Writer. She graduated with honors in 2019 from Southern New Hampshire University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, and she is currently enrolled in their Master of Fine Arts program.

 

She lives in Indiana, where she freelance edits and provides a variety of other author services. When she’s not writing or reading, she can usually be found watching Disney movies, creating pages in her bullet journal, painting, or singing showtunes to annoy her family and cats.

A war is looming. With Ada returned from the dead following her sacrifice, she now is immortal like Loxley. Shane has discovered his love and is prepared to tell the world. Two orphans join the castle but soon they are left behind when Shane, Philip, Lee and Ada go to war with the man Ada once loved. Will all survive or will Ada or Shane need to sacrifice themselves to undo the immortality curse?

What I liked about the book:

The book is a page-turner full of suspense and twists and turns. I couldn’t put it down.

What I didn’t like about the book:

I really loved the book.

The love the main characters share.

My least favourite bits in the book:

I enjoyed the entire book.

This is the third book in the series I’ve read by this author. There is a sample of the next book in the back of the book which makes me long to find out what happens next.
