Reminiscent in many ways of an episode of ""Friends"", I first became attracted to these characters in Martins' book ""Captive Love"" and Lost Love follows the same, emotional, twenty-something's as they try to settle into the real adult world and make their way in their chosen careers as well as forming relationships.
Martins' writing is straightforward and easy to read. The characters are likeable and easy to identify with, although, at times, I did feel like grabbing Theo and giving him a good, stern, talking to about not worrying about what others thought about him - only his opinion mattered. What I did like was the love scenes in the story, that were hot, passionate and exciting without crossing that fine line into crudity. Martins did an excellent job on that account.
All in all, another good addition to this series and I am keen to see where the next character relationship heads - presumably Josie and Ronald. A good read."

What happened to Christmas?

Well, I for one completely missed Christmas. After working on Christmas Eve and coming home with a bursting head around 4pm, I immediately went to bed. Although I hoped to feel better Christmas day of perhaps even after resting for a few hours, the flu-symptoms had a good hold of me and did not wish to let go of me. Other than for toilet breaks, I remained in my bed and slept most of the afternoon, night, day and another night away.
Only on Boxing Day did I feel well enough to leave my bed and join the family. I had so looked forward to sharing time with them, but it was not to be.
Even on Boxing Day I was not yet well enough to cook tea or to do much other than sit and watch a movie with the other half. No such luck as being able to write a little. I had so looked forward to the time off to do this.

Still, things are much better now and it is the weekend. Finally, I can return to my laptop and check emails, messages, etc from the last week. And now I can show you one of the graphics I arranged especially for Christmas.

As life continues much the same in the Joni Martins household, I continue to try and keep on top of things. Having just worked on marketing and updating all the social profiles as far as possible, I just had to rush outside to get the laundry in before it really starts to chuck it down. The first raindrops were already falling and I really did not want to allow what was now dry to become wet again. Not all had managed to dry sufficiently yet, so the dryer is running now.

But now, let me introduce you to Lost Love. Lost Love is the fourth book in my 'Friends, family and love' series and follows Krista and Theo through a period of despair. It also follows Josie and Ronald, who had been instrumental in Krista and Theo's break-up and their desperation to right what they wronged.

Josie
I had still not been able to speak to my brother or to Krista yet. Neither of them was willing to talk to me. I had tried to visit both of them at separate occasions and both had ignored my presence. Even six weeks after I caused them to split up, they were still no closer to being happy or being together again. No closer to forgiving me for what I had done to them either.
Deciding that something needed to be done, I had during the last week again tried to speak to them both, but they had both refused to see me. Again. They had not even answered the door to my desperate pleas to let me in and talk to me. This seemed to be something that I would not be able to make better on my own. Maybe it was time to talk to my other friends and see if we could come up with something to make Theo and Krista feel better again. I owed it to them to try. I had caused this misery and it was my responsibility to try to do something about it.
It was Friday and it might be worth trying to arrange a night out with my friends. I sent off a text to Freya and Lydia and hoped they would agree to meet in the pub tonight. I needed their help; I could not do this on my own.
‘Fancy a drink in the pub tonight?’
It wasn’t long before I got a response from my best friend Freya. She had not been very happy with me either. She had been really disappointed with my behaviour and how I had interfered in Krista and Theo’s relationship.
‘Sounds great, it’s about time we went out again. Missed our nights out.’
A little later Lydia responded as well to confirm she would be there. All was set. Hopefully, the three of us would be able to come up with a solution. It was not fair that Theo and Krista were still suffering six weeks since they had broken up. If anything could show me how wrong I had been to try to split them up, that certainly was. I felt so ashamed of myself. I should have known better than to interfere. It was so like me though to speak before I thought. That would have to change.
I still had an hour to work, but then I could go home and get changed for our night out. It would be fun to see the girls again, but I was also worried about their response to what I had done. Freya knew some of it, but Lydia had no idea what I had really done to break Theo and Krista up. I hoped that they would at least be able to forgive me. If only I could make things right for Theo and Krista again. At least I was trying to do what I could to achieve that. Hopefully, that would be enough.

This book is a little longer than the other three were and shows the agony and despair of depression that Theo falls into after his breakup with Krista. It shows his self loathing, lack of self-confidence and self-worth and how he struggles with suicidal thoughts. Will he eventually get back together with the love of his life again or has his sister Josie done such a number on him that he will never be the same and that their relationship is doomed for ever? Translation of Lost Love completed

A short update to let you know that I have completed the translation of my fourth book 'Lost Love' to Dutch. I will in the near future be publishing this after which it will become time to start on my next book again. I'm planning to allow my a short break before I do so as I have been working at a dizzying speed of around 1 book a month (both English and Dutch, so you could say 2) so far. And of course in February I produced a 18+ and a censored version of one book (so you could say 4 that month).

I am aiming to soon find out a way in which to publish my first book on other platforms as well and in that case be able to offer it on Amazon free permanently to entice you to start reading my work in earnest. Keep your eyes peeled for that.

 

 

Mijn vierde boek 'Verloren Liefde is inmiddels vertaald naar het Nederlands. Ik zal in de nabije toekomst dit boek publiceren, waarna het tijd wordt om aan mijn volgende boek te beginnen. Het is mijn bedoeling om een korte pauze te houden omdat ik met een duizelingwekkende snelheid van een boek per maand heb gewerkt (zowel in Engels als in Nederlands, dus je zou zelfs 2 kunnen zeggen)  tot dusverre. En natuurlijk heb ik in februari van hetzelfde boek 2 versies geproduceerd, een 18+ en een gecensureerde versie (dus zou je kunnen zeggen vier boeken die maand).

 

Ik ben ook van plan om binnenkort een manier te vinden om mijn eerste boek ook op andere platforms te publiceren en op die manier permanent gratis op Amazon beschikbaar te maken om je er toe te verleiden om mijn werk werkelijk te gaan lezen. Houdt dat dus in de gaten.

A scene from 'Lost Love'.

I was just translating this scene and was feeling a little proud of it, so I thought I would share it with you. It is from my fourth book 'Lost Love', which I'm currently translating to Dutch and I hope to be able to publish this book either at the end of this month or otherwise early April. Hope you like it.

In the distance I could hear the sirens approaching. They were on their way. Stay with me, Theo. Don’t leave me please. His breathing started to become even shallower. Every now and then it seemed to stop for a little. Please, stay with me. Don’t leave me, I need you. His pulse was getting weaker as well and every now and then it would skip a beat. What was keeping them? Why weren’t they here yet to save my guy; to save the love of my life? I could not live without him.

Ik was net deze scene aan het vertalen en was er een beetje trots op, dus dacht ik het met jullie te delen. Het is van mijn vierde boek 'Verloren Liefde' en ik hoop dit eind deze maand of anders begin April te publiceren. Ik hoop dat jullie er van genieten.

In de verte kon ik sirenes horen. Ze waren onderweg. Blijf bij me, Theo. Verlaat me alsjeblieft niet. Zijn ademhaling begon nog oppervlakkiger te worden. Soms leek het even te staken. Blijf alsjeblieft bij me. Verlaat me niet, ik heb je nodig. Zijn pols begon ook zwakker te worden en sloeg a fen toe over. Waar bleven ze toch? Waarom waren ze hier nog niet om mijn man te redden; om de liefde van mijn leven te redden? Ik kon niet zonder hem leven.

Editing/proofreading 'Lost Love' completed, translation started.

Just a further update on my fourth book 'Lost Love'. I have now completed editing and proofreading this book and have started to translate it to Dutch. I hope to be able to publish it by the end of March 2018.

'Lost Love' is nu geschreven, bewerkt en proef gelezen. Ik ben nu aan de vertaling in het Nederlands begonnen en hoop mijn vierde boek 'Verloren Liefde' eind maart 2018 te kunnen publiceren.

Editing has begun on Book 4.

My fourth book 'Lost Love' has now been written and I have started the process of proofreading and editing it. Once this has also been completed it will be translated into Dutch before publication of both on Amazon. This will likely be end of March or beginning of April.

Mijn vierde boek 'Verloren Liefde' is nu geschreven en ik ben begonnen met proeflezen en bewerken van dit boek. Als dit ook is voltooid, zal ik met de Nederlandse vertaling aan de gang gaan voordat het op Amazon zal worden gepubliceerd. Dit zal waarschijnlijk eind maart of begin april gebeuren.

'Lost Love' progress

A few extra chapters have been added to myfourth book 'Lost Love' and rather than 60, there will now be 62 chapters most likely. At the moment I have written 59 of the chapters and the book is therefore getting close to the point of editing and proof reading. Hopefully I can start on that the coming weekend.

Er zijn een aantal extra hoofdstukken aan mijn vierde boek 'Verloren Liefde' toegevoegd en in plaats van 60, zullen er nu waarschijnlijk 62 hoofdstukken zijn. Op het moment zijn 59 van die hoofdstukken geschreven en begint het boek daarom het punt van redactie en proeflezen te naderen. Hopelijk kan ik daar het komende weekend aan gaan beginnen.

'Lost Love' progressing steadily.

The book is progressing well and I may even be able to complete it before I had estimated. I'm definitely running ahead of my schedule for now and have completed the first 47 chapters. As the book is set to have 60 chapters in total, this means that I'm already over halfway. Obviously I will need to proof read, edit and translate the book afterwards as well, but if things continue to progress as well as they are, I might be able to publish the fourth book by the end of this month already instead of May as planned.

Het boek vordert goed en ik kan het mogelijk eerder af hebben dan ik had verwacht. Ik loop zonder enige twijfel op mijn schema voor op het moment en heb de eerste 47 hoofdstukken geschreven. Gezien het boek 60 hoofdstukken zal hebben, betekent dit dat ik al voorbij halverwege ben. Vanzelfsprekend moet het daarna nog worden proef gelezen, bewerkt en vertaald, maar als alles blijft verlopen zoals op het moment, kan ik mogelijk mijn vierde boek al rond het einde van deze maand publiceren in plaats van mei zoals de bedoeling was.

'Lost Love' is progressing well
