⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Short Summary of the book:

This book tells the story of Adam, a player. He has made mystique his field of play and uses it to lure in the ladies. Indeed, not just one but Adam has several ladies on the go at one time. Usually about 3 and this means he needs to lead a rather organised life. As soon as one becomes too demanding, he lines up a replacement and moves on.

What I liked about the book:

This book was humorous in places and it appears he falls for Bethany.

What I didn’t like about the book:

I enjoyed the entire book.

My favourite bits in the book:

Where Adam was slightly out of control and at risk of losing all he aimed for.

My least favourite bits in the book:

The book was fun to read and over too quickly.

Any further books in the series? Any more planned by this author?

This book is the first in a series. The author has written several other book series.

What books could this be compared to and why?

In comparison to his other books, this series is different. There is not as much suspense present but it’s fun and fast-paced.

Recommendation:

In summary, I would recommend this book for the following readers:

Children
No
Young Adult
Possibly
Adult
Yes

If you like romance, intrigue and a little suspense this book may be the book for you.

I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Book Description by Author:

Every woman knows an Adam. He's a "player," the type who professes true love, but with eyes that never stop wandering. He always has the perfect excuse when you find that long strand of blonde hair stuck to his collar, and fidgets whenever you get near his computer. Adam can't fool Bethany, who, despite her better judgment, falls head over heels him. Bethany is far more intelligent and strong-willed than Adam bargains for, and he finds himself smitten, too. Hilarious at times and poignant at others, Secrets of the Elusive Lover explores the age old challenge of obtaining the unattainable man, and the paradoxical issues surrounding monogamous relationships. As you turn the pages faster and faster to see if Adam and Bethany will ultimately get together, you will find this book another truly 'unputdownable' Mike Wells read.

Excerpts from various reader reviews:

5 STARS! Bethany is a sweet character and honestly I think she deserves better than Adam but I’m not sure. I liked the ending!!! Very original writing, I must say.

5 STARS! I have met a guy just like this Adam and it was nice to see the man get what was coming! Yum-yum. This book was good, really! I would highly recommend this one if you like messy relationship stories about guys and gals.

5 STARS! Read this in one long sitting. Awesome! I would love to read a sequel to this—please write one, Mike! I want more Adam and Bethany.

Book Review: Baby Talk (Book 1) by Mike Wells

Book Review

Basic Details:

Book Title: Baby Talk

Genre: Horror
Part of a series? Yes
Order in series: 1
Best read after earlier books in series? No
Available: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11428442-baby-talk

Overall score:

I scored this book 5/5
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️

Short Summary of the book:

This book tells the story of Natasha, a five-month-old baby and her father Neal. How aware is the young girl? Does she really hate her dad and is she out to get back at him for considering to abort her? Or is her dad simply psychotic? Read it in this short novel, the first in a series.

What I liked about the book:

I particularly liked how we could never be certain whether Neal was right in his belief or whether he was psychotic. We were left to wonder the entire time.

What I didn’t like about the book:

The book was over far too soon and at the end we still did not know what would happen next. Although the start of the book gave an insight into the eventual outcome, we still are left wondering what was next.

My favourite bits in the book:

I loved where Natasha spoke to Neal, or did she?

My least favourite bits in the book:

I didn’t like it when the book was over too soon, leaving us in suspense as to what happened next. I guess there is no other choice than to get the next books and find out.

Any further books in the series? Any more planned by this author?

This is only the first in this series. The author has written many more books which are very good at wetting the appetite for the next one in the series.

What books could this be compared to and why?

This book reminded me of some of the books by Stephen King as you are left wondering what is next. So, what is actually next?

Recommendation:

In summary, I would recommend this book for the following readers:

Children
No
Young Adult
Maybe
Adult
Yes

If you like Horror and suspense this book might just be the book for you.

I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Overall score:

I scored this book 4/5
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
(Close to five out of five. Marked down for the rather slow start in grabbing my attention)

Short Summary of the book:

This book tells the story of Elaine Brogan, a young woman who suffers under the knowledge her father was sent to prison for passing counterfeit money. This influences her further life and she fights to right the wrongs done.

What I liked about the book:

I particularly liked the strong main character but hated how she was deceived and made to lose the love of her life.

What I didn’t like about the book:

I wasn’t impressed by the start of the book. The first chapter was rather slow starting and did not really grab my attention. Although I was initially tempted to put down the book as a lost cause, the pace soon picked up and it became difficult to put the book down (or to not buy the next books in the series. Still resisting but it is becoming more difficult every day).

My favourite bits in the book:

I loved where Elaine managed to prevail in her training and appears to be the winner in the end, but is she?

My least favourite bits in the book:

I didn’t like it when the book was finished. The story after book three is obviously not finished yet and I want to know what happens next.

Any further books in the series? Any more planned by this author?

I understand the author continues to write new books, possibly even more in this series.

What books could this be compared to and why?

This book reminded me slightly of the Spy series by Diane Henders in that both authors have a female spy as the main character. The books and style of writing are completely different, though.

Recommendation:

In summary, I would recommend this book for the following readers:

Children
No
Young Adult
Maybe
Adult
Yes

If you like spy novels, mystery and suspense, this book could be the book for you.

I look forward to reading more books by this author. The only reason I have not yet bought the next ones in the series is a promise to myself to first finish the books I have waiting to be read already.
