Book Description by Author:

Middleham House stands alone on the bleak Yorkshire moors, its windows blackened by moody skies. Occasionally, a hint of light may touch the shadows but only when the clouds uncover the sun, or a full moon touches the dusty glass. The house has an atmosphere. Shadows and voices lay inside its rooms, yet nobody other than Gelda Foster can see or hear them, but her mind isn’t what it used to be. She has disturbing thoughts, and visions of the past haunt her in such a way that she has no perception of reality.

Gelda’s son Maximillian is a cold, practical man and his mother is a burden, in his opinion. The noise and hallucinations inside her head are due to mental illness, or a form of dementia that is just beginning to manifest itself. She would be better off in another place.

Millie Gayford is a writer. Her cosy little holiday let in Robin Hood’s Bay is just what she needs to wind down and pursue the project sitting on her laptop. And Middleham House is the perfect backdrop for a mystery thriller. Lantern Cottage is also owned by the Foster family. The dark figure that passes through its walls, seem to edge into her subconscious when she least expects it. Millie’s own past soon begins to haunt her as the two women, Millie and Gelda, become linked by a supernatural force.

About the Author:

I love to write. Whether it's a short story, poem, or novel, I like nothing more than curling up on the sofa with a cuppa, a notepad, and a pen to hand, ready to scribble down an idea that will eventually become something tangible.

My novel The Secret of The Shore is the first of a series of fantasy books for children, and I am currently penning the sequel which I hope to release in the near future.

My second book, Ruskington Manor: Conjured Chaos, one of two books, is a fun-filled spooky tale for children and adults. It makes great winter reading for fans of ghosts and horror, and is great for Halloween too.

During the lockdowns of 2020, Covid-19 has affected the mental health of many of us, and charities are in desperate need of funds. Catch The Dusk, a short story has been written in aid of the MIND charity who does a fantastic job in supporting people with mental health conditions. A donation of the royalties will be given to the charity.

My latest novel Larkspur is a paranormal mystery that will appeal to lovers of the supernatural. It is also a story of love and betrayal with several unexpected twists guaranteed to keep the pages turning.

I have lots of ideas and new titles coming soon on Amazon. Details can be found on my website maihri.patrick@wordpress.com

Book Description by Author:

The Love Games #2

Let me tell you a story. A story about love. Hate. Desire. Obsession.

Xolo and Lindani have always been together. Everyone knows where there's Lindani then you'll truly see Xolo there with him. Shouting at Lindani with the loudest voice his lungs can be capable of. Everything is Lindani's fault. Even if he knows it was his own fault.

They both don't realise what they truly have. They both don't understand it. But they want to. They want to know why they can't leave without each other. Why they can't be in a room without being in the same place. Why they seem jealous of everyone who comes close to the other. Why they feel their hearts beating ever so fast when one is around.

This is a love story. A love story stronger than time. And stronger than even death.

If you like to learn new skills in management but don’t like dry narrative, this book may be the book for you.

Book Description by Author:

A deployed nuclear submarine operates alone - hundreds of miles from any support and hundreds of feet below the surface.

An emotionless and indifferent enemy constantly surrounds the crew. Thousands of pounds of sea pressure sit right over their heads, waiting to crush them like a tin can and send them to the bottom of the ocean. Even the most junior sailor's mistake can result in loss of the submarine and everyone on it.

To accomplish their mission and return safely home to their families, a submarine crew relies entirely on the actions of their fellow sailors. There is shared responsibility as well as shared vulnerability. Regardless of rank or experience, every sailor is vitally important.

When Jon Rennie reported to the USS Tennessee as a young junior officer, he had no idea what to expect. He didn't realize he was heading out on a four-year adventure that would change his life and establish leadership principles that he would rely on for decades.

On a submarine crew, officers and sailors work together in cramped spaces and challenging conditions to accomplish complex missions with no room for failure. As Rennie moved into leadership positions in the business world, he found that the basic underlying principles for success at sea also led to high-performing teams on land.

Leaders succeed when they create a unified team with a singular mission - when all employees perform like they are all in the same boat.

About the Author:

Cold War submarine officer-turned-startup CEO Jon S. Rennie has led nine industrial manufacturing businesses across four different companies, including Peak Demand, the company he co-founded. Prior to entering the private sector, Rennie was a nuclear missile officer on the USS Tennessee. He holds an engineering degree from WPI and a masters from Cambridge. He lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, with his wife and two children.

Book Description by Author:

A gripping tale of the courage and heroism of Churchill's "Few" based on true events. Perfect for fans of Robert Radcliffe and Laura Hillenbrand.

May 1940. The French and British armies are in retreat as Hitler's blitzkrieg storms through France. Finally, they are beaten back to the coast at Dunkirk, with nowhere left to flee.

Churchill is determined to rescue as many men as possible, for without her army, Britain is sunk. A plan is hatched to evacuate the men from the beaches by sea, but it will take the combined strength of all the forces to ensure its success.

Sam, a young RAF pilot flies sorties daily over France, engaging the enemy in the skies over Dunkirk. He is determined to protect the men trapped on the beaches below, and give them a fighting chance of returning to home shores.

Day after day he returns to base when others do not. He witnesses friends shot down by the Luftwaffe, sometimes lost at sea. And each time he wonders when his luck will run out, yet still, he returns to the hell in the skies.

Survival is Victory.

2020 is the 75th anniversary of VE Day. While the war still raged on in the Pacific, it was finally over for all in Europe and great celebrations rolled out around the world. Why not celebrate by reading a new book about those remarkable times, and in doing so, remember the "Few" who gave their all for us today. Lest We Forget.

My second novel, Madame Fiocca, was released in 2019. Based on a true story, this gripping adventure follows the tempestuous life of Nancy Wake before and during the Second World War.

Spitfire, a short story, was released in 2020 and is set during WW2.

Book Description by Author:

Death on Lake Michigan is a mystery set in a glamorous town on the shore of Lake Michigan in the summer of ’73. Mike O’Brien, once the crusading editor of the Michigan State News, now the assistant editor of the Gull Haven Observer, becomes obsessed with solving the murder of Rich Mallon, one of the most notorious and well-known summer citizens of Gull Haven—and finds love in the process.

Here’s the story: A body washes ashore late one night during the biggest party night of the year in Gull Haven, Michigan. Murders are almost unheard of in this rich and trendy town, so the story is really big news—especially when it turns out that it belongs to Rich Mallon, one of the most notorious and well-known summer citizens of Gull Haven, a man who most of the locals believe was in the drug dealing business. Mike O’Brien is as fascinated about the murder as anyone and is glad to finally have a story with some meat to it to investigate. His investigation ends up becoming almost an obsession, especially as more and more leads surface about it and it becomes known that Rich Mallon was really Richard Nearing, the prodigal son of Edward Nearing, scion of a wealthy and prominent family from Chicago. As he follows up the leads in the story, he encounters an oddball and unlikely group of suspects that only deepens the mystery rather than leading closer to a solution.

Who will the murderer turn out to be? Grant Fields, who rumor has it was his partner in crime but whom he had a terrible argument with on the night Rich was killed? Could it be Becky Westworth, the beautiful and sexy but notorious woman who was Rich’s girlfriend until they had a bitter breakup just a couple of weeks before the murder? Or could it be Jack Engler, a fairly respectable young business owner in Gull Haven who has never committed a crime in his life but has hated Rich since he stole his girlfriend away from him a few months before the murder and who has been heard to say he’d like to kill Rich. Another suspect is Langdon Smith, owner of the largest fruit operation in the area, whose son died of an overdose of drugs that he always believed he got from Rich. It could even be Virginia Nearing, Rich’s elegant young stepmother whom he hated so much he hadn’t visited his father in many years but who may need to get Rich out of the way if she is going to stand any chance of inheriting her husband’s millions.

With the help of the irascible Lt. George Dirkman of the Lake County sheriff’s department, Mike unravels the mystery and even finds love along the way. Check out Death on Lake Michigan today for one of the most interesting mysteries and one of the most interesting group of characters you will have encountered in a long time!
