I have worked on the pre-publication work for KDP again, all is set to receive the final document and then I can schedule the release of the book. It feels like forever since I last published a book. In fact, it's nearly 2 years ago now. About time another one saw daylight.
Does that mean I can now sit back and relax?
No, on to the next book it is. Today I have started on the editing of 'Wake-Up Call' and the first 4 chapters received their first edit. Just another 30 to go.
And, once that one is also complete, I will go back to 'Growing Love' and finish writing that one. There are still a few last chapters missing off that one. Editing will follow and then on to publication. It will be a while before I get the chance to get bored.
Getting bored is unlikely to happen. Studying will need to be done too. After all, I need to get up to an acceptable level.
Who would like to read an excerpt of 'Wake-Up Call' while waiting for the rest of the books to get to publication?
Here you go:

Turning the design around, I looked at it from all sides. Then I sat back, put my right index finger to my lips and frowned. Something wasn’t quite right yet.
It was difficult to find out what was missing. Again I turned it this way and that. The lobby did not look right; it seemed too angular and needed some smoother edges. A few touches of the mouse and the screen later and the design came to life in front of my eyes. Instead of having a square space, I allowed the front of the building to be more wavy. The building looked less severe now.
Yes, that was better.
The front of the building was glass and armoured glass at that. In today’s world it was important to ensure the buildings were as terrorism proof as possible. The security of the front doors was guaranteed with biometric locks. The reception area aimed to be aesthetically pleasing, a desk in the same wavy design as the forefront of the building. Oak formed the base of the desk, the desk drawers and cupboards, the top made of armoured glass which incorporated computer touch screens.
Brilliant chandeliers would grace the ceiling and gigantic television screens would be mounted on the walls to keep the visitors occupied while they waited for their appointment. Winding stairs made their way to the next floor.
Elegant offices would occupy the next floor and the floors above. On the fifth floor we planned a state-of-the-art gym department where the staff could spend their down time and breaks. Our client felt serious about stress relief and keeping his staff fit and well.
A nursery and after-school club would also find its home on this level. Further floors with offices continued above this one and the top two floors would consist of the offices for the senior management. The senior management also had access to condos on the top two floors.
Below the ground floor, another four floors remained. A parking garage would occupy the three floors below the ground floor and the floor below aimed to entertain staff and visitors where appropriate. The plan also allowed for a bar and restaurant in this area. I built several escape routes into the design to provide maximum security for the client who had ordered the design. There would even be a bunker at this level; our client had received several death threats during his career.
