Book Review: Childhood with Elves by Olga Gomon

Book Review

Basic Details:

Book Title: Childhood with Elves

Subtitle: (The Games of Light and Shadow Book 1)

Author: Olga Gomon

Genre: Fantasy or Self-help?

Part of a series?

Order in series:

Best read after earlier books in series?

Available: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/55423263-childhood-with-elves

Overall score:

I scored this book 3/5

Short Summary of the book:

This book was not what I expected it to be and at the end, I’m still left wondering. Is this a fantasy? Is this an attempt at a self-help book? The author talks about current work, a childhood filled with mythical and fantasy figures. Or were they real after all?

What I liked about the book:

The book was easy to read in places and story-like. But it was also confusing.

What I didn’t like about the book:

How it stated the origin of disease and cancer. I certainly hope the author is not asking us to use her methods instead of traditional medicine. It might be an adjuvant treatment but not instead of traditional medicine.

My favourite bits in the book:

The stories.

My least favourite bits in the book:

The certainty in statements regarding health.

Any further books in the series? Any more planned by this author?

The title suggests this is the first in the series. I am not aware of any subsequent books at this stage.

What books could this be compared to and why?

I have not read any other book similar to this one.

Recommendation:

In summary, I would recommend this book for the following readers:

Children

No

Young Adult

Perhaps

Adult

Yes

If you like fairytales or self-help, this book may be the book for you.

Book Description by Author:

Different people live here on Earth. There are those of us whose life belong only for a half to the visible world.

Such people understand the language of animals and hear what the grass sings at dawn. They know the will of gods and live according to the laws of the Universe. They feel every living being on Earth as themselves, filled with love and tenderness to every one without exception. In the Christian tradition they are called saints. In Hindu tradition – sadhu. In Buddhism – the enlightened.

When and how do such people realize who they are? How do they find the Teachers who help to know their essence and to reveal their abilities? In the first book of the series Master Olga Gomon tells about her way, her magical childhood and her first teachers.
