Short
Summary of the book:
This short read tells us the story of widowed
Lady Susan looking for a suitable match for her young daughter and using
intrigue and promise of an affair to achieve this. The only thing she appears
interested in is status and the promise of an easy life for herself.
What
I liked about the book:
This is an easy-read and
What
I didn’t like about the book:
The use of swear words which I felt was
unnecessary. It is the reason I deducted a star.
My
favourite bits in the book:
The entire book was easy to read and
entertaining.
My
least favourite bits in the book:
I felt sorry for Lady Susan’s daughter for
having to deal with her mother’s manipulations.
Any
further books in the series? Any more planned by this author?
The title suggests there are more books in
this series.
What
books could this be compared to and why?
I don’t read a lot of historical fiction but
this one was very short.

Description by Author:
The book is a dramatisation of the story Lady
Susan by Jane Austen. This edition relays events leading up to Lady Susan
Vernon's first letter. She rides out with Mainwaring, her lover to see the
estate of Sir James Martin, and decides to persue this gentleman on behalf of
her daughter, Frederica as an eligible match for her. Frederica is a reluctant
party to her plans and resists Sir James when he has decided he is in love with
her. Lady Susan's position in the Mainwarings household becomes awkward when
Mrs Mainwaring becomes aware of her husband's infatuation.
